Eighteen years. That's a long time to do any one thing. I've had the fortune of spending a majority of the past 18 years doing something I've wanted to do since I was 8 years old: be on the radio. The past ten of those years I have had the wonderful experience of working at K100 with some of the most dedicated and professional radio people I have ever known. The last three and a half years I've had a blast waking up early to host the K100 Morning Show. For me, those early wake ups are about to be a thing of the past.
I have accepted a position at Western Illinois University. While this new career will take me away from the profession I have enjoyed for the past eighteen years, it will not take me away from radio entirely. It is my plan to continue to bring you Macomb High Football play-by-play next year. This winter, I will broadcast a handful of Macomb High girls and boys basketball games. My new career at Western marks the beginning of radio as a hobby.
The management here at the station has been very understanding of my desire to spend more time with my family. Rachel, Brady & Kellan have sacrificed many things in order for me to do what I have spent the last few years doing. They have sacrificed seeing me in the morning. That have sacrificed some level of privacy as many things said and done in the Smith household become a topic of discussion on the K100 Morning Show. I am thankful to have such a caring, loving and understanding family. Accepting this new position will allow my wife and me to continue to raise our boys here in Macomb. We couldn't imagine a better place to raise a family!
My thanks are also extended those that have invited me into their home, their car, and their life each and every day. And I also wish to give a big "thank you" to the staff of RadioMacomb for putting up with me and for doing the amazing job they do each and every day. I also want to thank the management for allowing me to continue at RadioMacomb in the limited roles I have expressed a desire to continue in.
Finally, thanks to God for the amazing gifts He has given me including the gift of the time I've had here at K100 and the wonderful people it has allowed me to cross paths with.
It sure has been a blast!

Eggs really do blow up in the microwave
After a failed attempt to blow up an egg in the microwave, Chris & Beau were starting to doubt whether or not an egg would or could really explode by being heated in a microwave. Perserverance pays off as this audio clip proves.
K100 Morning Show Science Fair
We're not even sure how they got on the topic, but listener Dan decided to help out the guys by volunteering an old TV and his fastball in an attempt to shatter the TV. As Beau predicted, the results, while funny, proved to be unsuccessful.

Here's some of thepractical joke fun you can have on Halloween. This video clip comes to us from ABC's America's Funniest Home Videos.

Yeah. Things go badly for this lady. But they get worse and her embarrassment caused the poor cameraguy some pain, too.
It's fun to pull pranks on nice people
If you're a scarecrow, you want to be really, really good at scaring, well, crows. This scarecrow was even better at scaring people.
In a bid to win $3-million...
We had a story about a professor who's got a bounty for $1,000,000 for photographic evidence which leads to the capture of a live Loch Ness Monster, Abominable Snowman, or Bigfoot. Heck, we figured a photo of all three was worth $3-mil, right?!?
Black & Gus on the loose
Even veteran broadcasters make mistakes. Here's a funny video of a newscaster and his struggles with cattle. Specifically, he's not too sure whether this cow is Black or Gus.
Baby picture exclusive!!
Wow! What a coup! We landed photos of Britney's newborn baby boy. Check out this photo of what's reported to be Sean Preston Spears-Federline. Wow! He looks just like dad!
Is Mullet Beau the Rawkers long lost son?
Listener Maureen suggested that Beau's mullet costume looks suspiciously similar to the dude in the Rawker videos. Chris made this photo comparison. Is he related? You decide.
He just had to know...
After Chris got some reassurance from his wife, Rachel, that she's not a

Especially if your friends do things like this with an airhorn. (We especially love how he screams!)

This poor guy
We feel bad for this guy ... really! But we can't stop watching the video of his botched sportscast. This comes from a Ball State University student TV station. Despite the fact the sportscaster, Brian Collins, has been thrust into the limelight, he hasn't talked with the media about his broadcasting troubles. Trust us ... we've had broadcasts every bit as bad as this!
